I feel totally in charge today.  For two days I was totally down for the count.  I had my first (and surely my last) root canal on Wednesday.  There's a whole story there but the after story is the one that will be told here..  I figured I would have a little discomfort but nothing extreme.  I was super surprised when I woke up at 1:30 in the morning with the most severe pain that I have experienced in a long while.  The tooth hurt worse then before the root canal!  It was excruciating and no amount of Ibuprofen would alleviate it (which was all the endodontist told me to take).  Needless to say, I could not work on Thursday because I was in so much pain and because I hadn't slept.  So I called the doctor and they called me in some prescription meds and told me to call them back if it didn't get better by morning.  Well, it didn't!  And the meds they gave me weren't really helping either.  So 2 nights of no sleep and severe, sob inducing pain.  By then the pain was not only just in the tooth but in my whole jaw, like someone had punched me in the face.  The doctor's office called me first thing Friday morning (which I still was not going to work due to pain and lack of rest).  When I told them the pain was not better they scheduled to see me at 1:30pm.  I arrived promptly for that appointment, against my better judgement since they were the reason I was in the pain in the first place.  But of course, as is par for any medical office, they were running behind and I had to wait in the uncomfortable lobby chairs while I pretended to be reading a People Magazine but really how could I focus on anything with my face feeling like tiny little men were stabbing me in the tooth and jaw with tiny little, very sharp swords!  So really I just shifted around a lot and flipped the pages of this week's People politely until my name was called.  Then the doc says they are going to remove the temporary filling so the infection can drain but they are not going to numb the area because they need me to tell them what it feels like.  Say what, Willis?!?!  Are you bleepty, bleep, bleep kidding me?!!!!  However, it wasn't as bad as I thought.  They successfully drained the infection and put more medicine in it and a new temporary filling.  There was finally some relief.  I was able to come home and rest, the pain meds finally worked and I woke up this morning a new woman.  The lesson I take away from this is never agree to a root canal again! 

Needless to say, the pain and the narcotics made it impossible to get my second short run in this week.  But, I did get my 7 miles in today.  It was fairly warm but the wind was wicked!  Like 25mph today.  It provided much resistance.  Slowed me down some but since I got a Piyo class and and Extreme class in this morning, I think I can handle a little slow down.  My Personal Training with Lindsay is really paying off too.  She has got my legs stronger then they have ever been. I am loving it.  On Wednesday she had me do the following series:

40 push-ups followed by 100 walking lunges
35 push-ups followed by 100 walking lunges
30 push-ups followed by 100 walking lunges
25 push-ups followed by 100 walking lunges
20 push-ups followed by 100 walking lunges

In case your a little slow (and I'm not judging you for that, God loves all of his children LOL) that's 150 push-ups and 500 walking lunges total!  Holy screaming quads Batman!  I am really loving this training and my new strength.  Taking things to a new level.

Speaking of new level, I also tried a few new things this week.  One was a class called Fitzone.  It's cardio and weight training.  It was amazing!  Awesome addition to my routine.  I also tried Piyo which is like yoga on steroids.  Loved It!  And the instructor, Kevin Jewell is an amazing young man.  I might have a little gym crush.  Shhh, don't tell.  The kid is young enough to be my son.  He's just so positive and a little cutie pie.

I also ruled this week with my diet.  Totally back in line.  We didn't eat out at all this week and all the recipes I tried this week were healthy and well rounded.  I feel so much better!  I still need to do Dr. Oz's 3 day cleanse.  I just have to carve out some time when my schedule and my workouts are light enough to handle it. 

Overall, this was a good week and I am riding the wave.  Healthy meals this week have led to fewer cravings for crap food.  That, is remarkable in and of itself.  I even passed on a homemade chocolate dessert the other night.  Maybe that was the meds or the pain though.  Sane people don't usually pass up homemade chocolate mousse tortes.
