I had the best weekend I've had in I can't remember when! Some of that was attributed to the power of social media. Social media has allowed me to be involved and reconnect with people and things that I may not have otherwise. I am so grateful to be living in this age of technology. This got me thinking about those people who post things on FB about deleting their FB accounts or chastising others for spending so much time on FB (or Twitter). These sites were designed to be SOCIAL media sites. They are meant for people to connect, who normally wouldn't get the chance. They are meant to remain in contact and up to date with people and to build a network of friends that can literally span the globe. How cool is that? I get so much support from my FB account. I share with other people who have similar interests as I do and get those extra pushes of accountability too.
So anyway, I got to spend Friday night with some friends from my hometown. Particularly, my best friend. We stayed up late, talked, laughed, shared. It felt good to be around the people who know me best. On Saturday, I got to run the Jingle Bell 5K with some new friends and spend time getting to know them afterwards. What a wonderful Saturday. Today I got up and ran 9 miles for my training schedule. I won't lie, it kinda sucked a little. I was super sore today for whatever reason but I was out there and I got it done. My husband and I then took the dogs, along with another friend and his dogs, on a hike out by the lake. It actually felt good to walk out some of the stiffness from that long run. My husband and I did the grocery shopping, 4 stores, half my paycheck and 5 hours later there is plenty of things for my kids to complain about that they don't like. Both yesterday and today I got a nap in and we made an awesome dinner tonight. I'm now ready for my kids to come home from their dad's so we can get our selves ready to dive into the week before Christmas.
Typically I am a solo runner. I like to run alone, even in races. This weekend, I stepped out of that comfort zone and ran with two other people for the Jingle Bell run. It was fun to have a group to run with. I enjoyed being there to encourage Allan towards his goal and to get to know McKenzie a little better. These are friends that I made at Extreme Results. I love being part of this gym family. I love being healthy and having my weekends full of activities that promote that.
Part of me started to feel bad for having such a great weekend but then I remembered that not embracing the life that I have to live won't undo anything that has already been done.

I just went back and caught up on all the previous entries so my comments may have nothing to do with this post. :)
ReplyDeletePeople often under-estimate the importance of good shoes, and good thongs! I have recently discovered my feet are a half size bigger than they use to be and I have had to suck it up and buy big clown shoes. Stupid feet. I have also, much to the joy of my husband who now loves to watch me fold my clothes, discovered the benefits of thongs. :)
I am as always amazed at your strength and determination. You are fantastically inspiring.
That is very cool that you are teaching yoga at your morning hangout! Soon you'll only have to leave to sleep.
