Tis the Season

Can you believe that it's December already?!  OMG, where did this year go?  Really?  It's been a monumental year yet I think it has gone entirely too fast.  Maybe that's what happens as you get older.  Time has the illusion of going faster when your trying to hold on to it harder.  As a kid, time never went fast enough.  I was always waiting for the next milestone, now I am in the exact opposite place, wishing for more time between milestones.  Earlier in the week I wrote about being super grouchy this week.  It seems that everyone else is too.  I really hate this time of year.  We talk a good game about the season of giving and family but all I run into out in the real world are people in a hurry to get to the next place or check the next item off their to do list.  Be kind folks!  We are all in this world together.  Nobody is on a personal mission of sabotage YOUR day.  You are not that important.  Shocking isn't it?  I am making a special effort to not let the general public have to bare the brunt of my sh#&.  My family is another story...maybe I can work on that next year. 

I have not been able to get a better handle on my nutrition either, as is clear by my Red Lobster binge on Thursday night.  Making healthy choices is what my brain wants to do but then my taste buds and emotional drain hit the override switch and lock logic in the panic room for safe keeping.  I may try a 3 day detox next weekend just to reset the switches and triggers before the Holiday season kicks into high gear.  I know that the Holidays are not a good excuse because I was still losing weight last holiday season and managed to stay on track.  Now I'm just trying to maintain and not sabotage my training schedule.  That almost makes it easier to cheat some days.  Rationalization really kicks in there.  The little voice in my mind says "you can handle it, it's not like your trying to lose weight anymore" or "a few oreos aren't gonna kill you" or "it's a celebration, you can't be rude."  Maybe the voice is right but I don't want to get stuck in that since my mileage is starting to increase more every week.  I want to be in my own personal peak condition for this race. 

Thursday was a run day.  I had to really talk myself into this one.  I really had no desire to run.  It was rough getting started and it didn't even really make me feel better afterwards like it usually does.  I am looking forward to Sunday's 7 miles since it's gonna be like 50 degrees out tomorrow morning.  Can;t wait for that.
