Today I got to think about things from a different perspective. A friend of mine who is on maternity leave brought her new baby in to see us all at work today. She was here when I got back from my midday run. So, there I am sweating and probably a little stinky but Mia (that's the baby's name...isn't it beautiful?) didn't seem to notice. She tucked her little self down in the crook of my arm and made the most amazing facial expressions as she slept. What a wonderful and rewarding miracle to her family. I began thinking back to my own kids births and their first weeks/months of life. They are so precious and dependent. Now, my kids are 12 and 9 and they are headstrong, independent and opinionated. This too is a precious gift but in a different way. What a privilege it is to be trusted to raise and guide young people through their formative years and into strong capable adults. A lot of times I think that I am not doing a very good job with my own kids but maybe the examples I will be setting for them will be more evident later in their adult lives. I try to be aware of how I take care of myself and how I tend to my responsibilities. Hopefully, these things rub off on them in the future. They are in the "parents don't know anyting" stage. I wonder how my own mom lived through that without taking it all so personal that she just wanted to give us up to someone more capable. My kids are one of my greatest gifts and one of my biggest challenges.
This past weekend I read an incredibly good novel by Nicholas Sparks called "The Best of Me." I through it was going to be nice relaxing, enjoyable read. It was a wonderful book but it pulled at my heart strings. I am now beginning the book by Cheryl Strayed called "Wild." It is her true story of her trek up the Pacific Nortwest Trail. Another nail biter, I'm sure. There should be a lot of motivation in this book. I am looking forward to sitting down with it over the weekend.
I spent my lunch break running today, despite the cold that I am developing. It is difficult to run with a sore throat. Once I got warmed up though, it seemed to come a little easier and I am glad that I got out and did it. I really do love running.
I tried something different today. This whole blogging thing is evolving for me since I have never done anything but Facebook before. I copied and pasted my diary page from Myfitnesspal.com
It seemed like an easier way to share me food and activity on my blog.
Ready to head out for my
lunch run

Stupid Halloween candy at work...but I avoided the two boxes of stupider donuts. Don't I get some credit for that? Ande, the Candy Cane Oreos are gone now...phew, made it through that.
